1,000th post and a walk through the garden

This is my 1,000th post.  This one, right now - the one you are reading.

I had thought about doing some sort of hoopla, but honestly, I just don't have the time or energy.

So, for my 1,000th post, I'm sitting in the cafe, waiting for my anatomic path rotation to start and I'm going to post a low key post about my walk through my garden this morning.

The plant I forgot to label that is coming out of the bottom of the purple bucket is a pepper.
I'm watering the hay bale to get it to rot, and then I'll put carrots in it, and maybe some marigolds and strawberries.
This has been my best vegetable garden so far - the more processed sugar I cut out of my diet, the better veggies taste, and now that I have a bird that I give a LOT of veggies to on a daily basis, I'm buying a lot more of them and I would love to be able to give him veggies out of my garden - and thus about 50% of these veggies I don't eat but Connor does!

Reminiscent of a very early picture I have of Tess....
(Shown with one of her sisters at the breeders)

  1. Nice pics! You didn't label the sage bush in the wood planter. The most beautiful orangy pink rose is a Chicago Peace. My favorite, though it doesn't have much aroma.

  2. Sage is labeled but hard to see. I like the Chicago peace one too. The yellow one is a good color too. Quite pleased how everything is coming along.this year! Hoping I get to enjoy some of the fruit before moving too. All my veggies are in pots so I can take with me, except the hay bale. That's going to unfortunately be staying, so I have to make sure I don't plant anything there that I mind leaving behind.

  3. I must say, I think Tess is *much* cuter than her sister. I remember how much fun it was to plant the patio stuff. Is the bugle weed still springing up?

    1. I don't know where bugle weed was or what it is....

    2. It's the patch of ground by the stairs opposite the planter box. I think it dies out in the winter and pops back up in the spring...?

    3. Ummmm.....unless my cabbage is sitting on top of it I don't see it. Unless it looks like a blackberry?

  5. Congrats! 1000 is great! Your garden is really cool - which would you say is the easiest? I have a brownish-black thumb...

    1. My thumb is only recently green...weeds and keeping up with watering is my downfall. Tomatoes was easy and since I'm growing upside down no cage.required. I planted a seedling it grew like crazy and voila! I already show flowers. The garlic was gratifying GB too. I planted individual cloves and had sprouts in days and they are growing fast and well. Same for the yellow squash. For cooler gardens in spring and fall I would male a plug for cabbage and onions. Both got left in my raised bed winter garden when I have up and ignored it for months. Two weeks ago I went to the bed for diet and they were still going strong. Transplanted both of them and have harvested the onions, and the purple.cabbage.is still going, adding beautiful texture and color. Not sure.I'll get heads because of.the inconsistent watering.it got over.the winter, but evidently pretty Hardy!
