Pictures - Day 1

Day: Saturday

Location: Del Valle in Livermore, CA

To read the challenge and join in, read this.
As promised, no dialog, just titles! In the meantime I'm writing posts about our adventures, which will probably start posting next week, after the pictures are done. This will be perfect as I'm in Alabama for work that week and will have nothing to say.....(this wasn't really dialog, this was "context" :)

"Pre Ride"

"Something worth looking at (evidently...)"

"A streambed is the way to the trail"

"Now with horse ears!" (Can't resist interjecting here! - We ended up wading through about 2 feet of water for ~1/8 of mile and the boots stayed on! It was magical...)

"Top of the mountain"

"A break and a rump shot"

"The best gift is....boots that stay on" (another interjection: One boot did come off - still around the pastern and was able to replace - but it was an anomaly and was done only with spectacular acrobatics from Farley. I don't expect it to happen again. Full story will come later)

"On the way home"

"Post 22 mile work out"

  1. Looks like a great place to condition! Farley looks so good! I'm jealous (not sure if its your horses good shape or the fact that you have a horse to get in that kind of shape!!)

  2. The hard thing is to go anywhere to ride on trails is minimum 1.5 hour drive.....I would kill (not literally..) for a place less than an hour away that I could go and condition.

  3. It looks like you had a great ride! I'm lucky in that if I want to ride, I just cross Highway 7 and I'm in the national forest. The problem is that it's an hour to my parents' place from my house, but there's not trailering time involved.

I have to say, I love the pictures with the ears - those are the best and I have many of my own that are "framed" by Estes' ears.

  4. Ok, well I guess I have that one on you! Since Big Basin (and therefore over 30 miles of horse trails) are a mere 3 mile ride away from home! But still, my only riding horse hates riding there anymore.
