For some reason, the small pox picture is the one that made me cringe the most. Maybe because it used to be so common and it's a concrete example of what we have gained by living in the modern century?

I work as a photographer for a rare book company and get to photograph some of the books these photos/drawings were first published in...pretty amazing (and gross) stuff, but fascinating all the same. If you ever find yourself in Philadelphia, you HAVE to take a trip to the Mutter Museum (it's a museum of medial oddities!)
